so 2 days ago i learned that the Susan G. Komen Foundation is holding a Race-for-the-Cure 5K event here in Savannah for breast cancer awareness and research.
and i got to thinking: what could be nicer than strolling (or running, for those more motivated than me) through lovely downtown Savannah on a beautiful spring morning with a bunch of women to support a good cause? count me in!
and thus Team Fancypants was created. i've invited just about every female coworker i have here at SCAD to join the team and i'm hoping to get a good turnout-- so far, Team Fancypants has 4 members on the roster-- hooray!
and i've got a few tricks up my sleeve too. i'm planning to buy pink sweatbands (head bands) for the team members. and i think i'll sew ruffles onto some shorts to create my very own "fancypants". get it? eh? eh? pretty clever!
so hooray for a morning to bring women together-- in support of and in memory of all the strong and special women in our lives who have dealt with breast cancer.
kudos to the survivors and much love to those we've lost-- gone but not forgotten, indeed.
