i'm in love with a room.

perhaps it will be the nursery one day soon (that's a whole other story) but for now, it's my studio-- my retreat and "happy haven". the walls are covered in everything i love, from UNC basketball newspaper clips my grandma sent to old charcoal drawings from my early SCAD days to my favorite snapshots of flowers or friends whom i love and miss.

and when it's tidied up, carpet vacuumed, and iTunes library playing, its almost impossible to drag me out. kevin knows this well. many hours have been spent with him watching football and me puttering away in "my room"-- yelling back and forth that we love eachother and its good to spend time together. :)

my most recently completed quilt (on top), which i handstitched around all of the shapes. the back is a lovely soft white flannel and the texture of the stitching and puckering makes me smile.

and my latest throw-sized quilt in-progress.
(with sadie and pete as my loyal assistants-- they break them in just right, dirty paw prints and all)
and last nite i specifically enjoyed "making" while listening to this. good tunes for good times.

pretty flowers in a jar

given to me by such a pretty bride!

My good pals Sean and Ryen got hitched this weekend-- and are now off to Europe for a 14 day honeymoon. Which means that Pete and Riley get to have a guest visitor for the duration: Sadie! (aka Shrek, as Kevin lovingly nicknamed her)

So it's pretty much "doggie fun time" at our house for the next 2 weeks... they love it! And when you already have 2, you barely notice a 3rd. Besides, with her stocky little body, underbite, and "sides-of her-head-one-ear-up-one-ear-down " look, Sadie makes me smile just about every time I look at her!

Food for 3...

that's delicious and nutritious. yum!
(mmm... makes me hungry just looking at the picture.)

last nite, to appease my extreme desire for fresh snow peas and "colorful veggies", kevin whipped up a fabulously tingly stir-fry concoction. and to satisfy his carnivorous tendencies, he convinced me that strips of top-round steak would be a great iron boost. he's a crafty one-- but he did have a good point. besides all the spinach i eat, i'm not too sure where i else i'm getting iron. so, even with the steak, it was absolutely delicious, as so many of kevin's creations are. :)

i certainly ate enough for me and the little gremlin floatin' around inside!
(i'm convinced the little whipper-snapper loves jalapenos, canteloupe, green olives, and kraft macaroni and cheese.)

wow

how awesome would it be if this could actually happen and if all of the bears are Haribos?!?

just a nice thought.... :)

staying busy....

so this is one of the 4 or 5 quilts that i have in the works right now. i think i have the back to this one all pieced too, but i'm not sure. they all kind of jumble up in my head!

heres another:

(its currently taped to my door)

these, i guess, are intended to be "little girl" quilts.

I'm also working on Sean and Ryen's wedding quilt:

which is much more masculine, since its for my "boss"-- i really like it. but im kind of stumped for now on how to do the quilting. i'm thinking i'll end up handstitching an interlocking circle design all over it (think olympic rings). kind of in a symbolic wedding ring-kinda way. but i need to get to it if that's the plan-- 22 days til the wedding!

i'm also working on a "labor blanket" for me. ha! or thats what i've decided for it to be, since i'm using some of my fabulous "everything will be ok" fabric that i dyed a nice navy blue color. The pictures are kind of terrible for now. I'll try to post some better ones once everything's finished:

yep. so i'm keeping busy-- multi-tasking on projects. hopefully, they will all be seen through to fruition...... that's my goal.

this guy...

is something else.

yes, he drives me crazy at times with his slow-talking, good ol' boy, redneck ways-- but he manages to keep me balanced and show me what's really important in life even at my most "hormonal."

and for this, i don't give him near enough credit.
so this is a little post for him. or, i should say, in appreciation of him.

because when everything else is spinning madly around me, he pulls me in, makes me laugh, and swears that a deep breath of salty air is enough to dissolve all my worries.

(love this guy-- he's gonna make a phenomenal dad!)
(Jack Flanagan's Crab Shack fence-- too funny!)
