happiness in the works...

got a few projects going right now.
hopefully, i'll end up with a quilt or 2 to sell in shopSCAD.

something about these colors and fabrics and putting them altogether makes me happy!

and, just because, here's one of the nifty gifts i gave my pal angie-- some spruced-up burp cloths from amy at suryadesigns (plus the wonky one on the bottom i had pieced and made myself)along with a fabulous wooden teether i picked up from the talented and eco-friendly folks at little sapling toys.

kevin is ridiculous.

he saw this picture, which i took with my phone, and asked me if i put red lipstick on ellie's lips.

huh?! "sure honey, i decided 4 months is plenty old enough to dabble with makeup."

but i guess thats not as bad as his initial reaction to this photo, which i sent in a photo message while he was at work:

guess i really threw him a loop with the bow on her head... which i swore i wouldnt do, but it's just so darn cute.

(though this picture was taken about 2 months ago... we only have peppers growing now... the sunshine's pretty much fried everything else at this point, but it was good while it lasted!)

she hasnt quite gotten the hang of bouncing, but she sure does like to spin and chew on the seat.

and mom can wash bottles and pump parts and get ready for the next day, under ellie's non-bouncing but watchful eye... :o)

(a favorite gee's bend string quilt)

i came across the following passage on a blog somewhere a few months back-- I'm hoping to locate the source so I can give credit where it's due.

"Before becoming a parent, I worked to make a living – to get ahead. Now, I work for purpose. Motherhood has not only changed my work but my entire Self. Everything is more important now. I think of the future and what my children and grandchildren will be left to worry about. I think about our world and how seriously we need to step back and reevaluate ourselves and our choices. Everything has more meaning and my choices are more important – the food we eat, where we spend our time, how we spend our time, the content and amount of media in our home… Mothering is the most difficult job I have ever had to do – it comes with such joy but also a deep ache that lives forever in a woman’s heart – a pain and a knowledge that we have brought these little children into an imperfect world. Motherhood has made me a conscious being… when before I couldn’t see past my own self."
