awww!
so this is my completed "assignment 2" for my quilt class. the general concept behind the project is that we would us log cabin quilt technique and somehow incorporate it into our own quilt design. traditionally, a red square was used at the center of the log cabin design to represent the home or "hearth"-- the central part of the home. I decided to run with this, and used a tiny bit of red in this traditional way in my own quilt.
i call this my little boy quilt because, in order for kevin to accept me working on projects and assignments all the time for my class, i told him that i'm making quilts for our unborn children. (haha) If it were up to Kevin, we'd have 5 kids yesterday, so he loves the idea that I am mentally preparing myself and making quilts for our children-to-come. Ha! Stay tuned for the "little girl" quilt!
this particular quilt is also special to me because i used a couple of fabrics from my Grandma Dunn's collection, which she had sent me before she passed away in 2001. It also uses some fabric from both mine and kevin's clothing: some old jeans and corduroys... great stuff. so it's special to me. and someday, perhaps our little boy will use and love it too!
